Sri Lanka is a tropical island situated close to the southern tip of India. The fish fauna within the country and around the island is really amazing, when considering the small land. Among the marina fish, sharks and batoids (rays and skates) form a considerable diversity. According to many investigations and researches, there are 60 sharks species and 30 rays and skates found around the coast of Sri Lanka.
